Add unstable and uncommittted to populist and unaccountable

Ludwig,  like the Greens,  is never sure of much . Joel Fitzgibbbons was right on target. about those whose policies stem from the Greens . This week Ludwig  changed his worry from Food security to Food policy . From glass nearly empty to glass still half empty . He thinks he needs a policy to guide him .He's joined the worriers and their campaigns of great worry.and needs help to make better decisions
Why the slight change of emphasis ? . Perahps he's realised we export more food than we grow and like the refugees issue he's been populist and shallow by following  the simple " population out of control" and we are running out of everything"  arguments.
Personally I don't think the policy document will help him make decisions. Wouldn't have stopped  him from making stupid decision like closing down the cattle trade .
Like SHY's "experiment to solve" solutions policy  on Q&A this week - just more delaying tactics and decision avoidance therapy.

Queensland election result

Labors loss in OLD is due to a con . Labor thinks it is doing well incorporating green thinking into its policies . The people can see these idealists are kidding themselves . (Professionals could see it years earlier.) Many people don't mind paying for the long term a bit, but they drew the line at a con . Greenlabor is not credible on conservation . Neither the old or the new reactionaries can identify the problems SO how in the world do they get away with giving money away in each Shire panel;  to solve problems no one on the production ecology site sees -
If you don't believe the ABC ( why would you) ask a high percentage of rural Australians.
Better still -- If your don't believe me,  ask a Green what Shires should spend our money on - that would make interesting television or radio ! When we see it , we will watch the ABC again .SBS are much less predictable and more interesting .

Some unique individuals want to change a definition that doesn't rationally include them

At national conference. Great that Julia has allowed a debate on changing the platform of how marriage is defined .
Suddenly a self select group of comrades and delegates( who can't even fill the conference room normally
are going to storm a decision held against them for the life of the party. ( Margin against the decision in the real democracy is said to be 4:1against )ensuring labors electoral defeat and labors allowance of a voting block.A conference where Faulkner is the intellectual of note ( by winning a word game that really doesn't mean anything) and  Cameron the commended character assassin. Not a good look for the party.
A simple truth -one relationship is not just one in marriage ,something that equality spruckers seem to ignore-(equality and rights of those affected?) its more than 2 people doing what they like .In secular terms marriage  focus has always been on families .Wong doesn't mention this issue because only one thing is clear . we want to be treated as though we are just the same as everyone else when to do that means rejecting the idea of their uniqueness ( something we do respect).
No doubt we will hear from comrades about what they think. Whether the delegates on the question of changing the definition of marriage represent anything but homsexuals is not clear . What is clear is that this small group want to control the meaning of the word .Marriage is not a right but the lobby say it is . Sound thinkers know that those who fight for rights may only have their own issues in focus . Marriage as defined by law ( not religion) is for the benefit of children in particular .
Respecting adult choices over sex speaks to life's aspirations for children . The majority of us accept that we should respect adult choices .This we will continue to do What we don't accept is the dictation from a minority that marriage should mean all things to all men .The shallow ambition of a few will become the model of confusion for our children. I hope a few comrades don't get their way on something that affects our children attitude to matters of commitment and how and where it works for their long term benefit.

The toilet needs flushing

The Greens can't be taken seriously. Like many marginal parties they are disagreeable for the sake of being disagreeable . Unlike the farmers though,  they can't talk to the details of the Murray Darling plan , which makes them largely just noise  .
They camp at the end of the process waiting for a door to open , expecting only toxic stuff to come forth . Somehow once it got past them and entered Bass strait , it would all be cleaned up . All they want is a say ?

Feel good taxes

The hugs won't last because the idea of setting a price on carbon is too simple and not targeted well enough to be effective and efficient .
The dummies like Wong were expounding how efficient the new taxes were in Parliamant today unaware that efficiciency alone is a cul desac in ecomia -Hitler was efficient .
The experts on the program on ABC3 tonight ( green economy-future forum) quietly made the points above and below this blog .
Most importantly, generalized innoculation type carbon taxes are wrong because they don't target inefficency and because new energy demand competes directly with agriculture and the poor.
SO  the dummies are targeting the poor and vulnerable .  the greatest evil is often done in the name of the best intention.

Labor's welcome sense of a mature attitude to growth

Offering tokens at election can win elections,  but it won't keep you in government.

Gillard , with the Greens running the show,  knows she has to show how Labor still has some backbone . Her statement today that she intends to make her position clear on some middle ground ground issues is very welcome. A mixed bag of grabs it may be, but at least the marginal and noisy naysayers are off the agenda .
The Greens at least have consistency on their side - consistent nagging on their same old same old tired old, predictable list of superficial evils. Why listen - we have heard it all before !!!and we are sick of it

No doubt the Greens will seek to mediate a solution (or manufacture some spin)  to the sleeping giant s wake up call - but having changed everything often ( and therefore undermined their credibility on moral ground  by constantly moving it - the moral ground clearly more passively shared by others ) they are not credible - be interesting to see if they can agree to say something useful or just hug each other over every token word that seems to say they are being taken seriously

Labor's needs to stop selling things and trying to fiddle with the market -something they are hopeless at

Who knows or cares  why the matters are on the agenda - at least the crap on the edge is not .
We know she's been wearing invisible clothes even if the conference doesn't get that  yet either .
Change driven by desperation doesn't keep you in power either .
Maybe rather than have debates at  conferenence
-electives on a narrative that makes sense

Pay me,  don't pay spin doctors ,
you dummies  --Short term gain long term pain
