Some unique individuals want to change a definition that doesn't rationally include them

At national conference. Great that Julia has allowed a debate on changing the platform of how marriage is defined .
Suddenly a self select group of comrades and delegates( who can't even fill the conference room normally
are going to storm a decision held against them for the life of the party. ( Margin against the decision in the real democracy is said to be 4:1against )ensuring labors electoral defeat and labors allowance of a voting block.A conference where Faulkner is the intellectual of note ( by winning a word game that really doesn't mean anything) and  Cameron the commended character assassin. Not a good look for the party.
A simple truth -one relationship is not just one in marriage ,something that equality spruckers seem to ignore-(equality and rights of those affected?) its more than 2 people doing what they like .In secular terms marriage  focus has always been on families .Wong doesn't mention this issue because only one thing is clear . we want to be treated as though we are just the same as everyone else when to do that means rejecting the idea of their uniqueness ( something we do respect).
No doubt we will hear from comrades about what they think. Whether the delegates on the question of changing the definition of marriage represent anything but homsexuals is not clear . What is clear is that this small group want to control the meaning of the word .Marriage is not a right but the lobby say it is . Sound thinkers know that those who fight for rights may only have their own issues in focus . Marriage as defined by law ( not religion) is for the benefit of children in particular .
Respecting adult choices over sex speaks to life's aspirations for children . The majority of us accept that we should respect adult choices .This we will continue to do What we don't accept is the dictation from a minority that marriage should mean all things to all men .The shallow ambition of a few will become the model of confusion for our children. I hope a few comrades don't get their way on something that affects our children attitude to matters of commitment and how and where it works for their long term benefit.

The toilet needs flushing

The Greens can't be taken seriously. Like many marginal parties they are disagreeable for the sake of being disagreeable . Unlike the farmers though,  they can't talk to the details of the Murray Darling plan , which makes them largely just noise  .
They camp at the end of the process waiting for a door to open , expecting only toxic stuff to come forth . Somehow once it got past them and entered Bass strait , it would all be cleaned up . All they want is a say ?

Feel good taxes

The hugs won't last because the idea of setting a price on carbon is too simple and not targeted well enough to be effective and efficient .
The dummies like Wong were expounding how efficient the new taxes were in Parliamant today unaware that efficiciency alone is a cul desac in ecomia -Hitler was efficient .
The experts on the program on ABC3 tonight ( green economy-future forum) quietly made the points above and below this blog .
Most importantly, generalized innoculation type carbon taxes are wrong because they don't target inefficency and because new energy demand competes directly with agriculture and the poor.
SO  the dummies are targeting the poor and vulnerable .  the greatest evil is often done in the name of the best intention.

Labor's welcome sense of a mature attitude to growth

Offering tokens at election can win elections,  but it won't keep you in government.

Gillard , with the Greens running the show,  knows she has to show how Labor still has some backbone . Her statement today that she intends to make her position clear on some middle ground ground issues is very welcome. A mixed bag of grabs it may be, but at least the marginal and noisy naysayers are off the agenda .
The Greens at least have consistency on their side - consistent nagging on their same old same old tired old, predictable list of superficial evils. Why listen - we have heard it all before !!!and we are sick of it

No doubt the Greens will seek to mediate a solution (or manufacture some spin)  to the sleeping giant s wake up call - but having changed everything often ( and therefore undermined their credibility on moral ground  by constantly moving it - the moral ground clearly more passively shared by others ) they are not credible - be interesting to see if they can agree to say something useful or just hug each other over every token word that seems to say they are being taken seriously

Labor's needs to stop selling things and trying to fiddle with the market -something they are hopeless at

Who knows or cares  why the matters are on the agenda - at least the crap on the edge is not .
We know she's been wearing invisible clothes even if the conference doesn't get that  yet either .
Change driven by desperation doesn't keep you in power either .
Maybe rather than have debates at  conferenence
-electives on a narrative that makes sense

Pay me,  don't pay spin doctors ,
you dummies  --Short term gain long term pain

$100000 a spin

Don't mind any party getting a news briefing , but The Greens "always had"  policy announcement on $1 a time  didn't sound newsworthy or authorative today ; proves they get special spin treatment from the ABC.  I bet the independants don't get the same treatment when they say nice things about someone else's ideas .
Di Natalie  tell us what the productivity commission and 2 independents told us .....and they are not certain will work either .
Happy to just get some spin and sound sort of confident - like they know they need to . Like Bob Brown said - "not sure it will work:  (Implication :  but we don't have to be accountable for standing behind our words?  Ho Ho Ho all we need - more suggestions .

Eventually Labor has to believe something bigger

Albanese's comment about "a protest of no consequence" shows how deeply out of touch he really is with the Australian people .
Does Caucus really know what its doing?. Crean 's father and Beasley would understand the following but would Simon  or Shorten ( except in the empty macheliavellian sense ) ?
' Our forefathers said "If you don't stand for anything you fall for everything"; . Labor stands for green . Labor 's position is  not much different from standing in the wind and hoping it will sway you in the right direction .

Can't please the Greens.

One of the realities that will define this period of history will be the way the Greens survive by redefining themselves- as the new reactionaries . The truth doesn't matter -just the way you redefine yourself .Clean and green and clever as ever ,  but more in theory than reality .Close everything down and hope the park will attract visitors, if not land industries.
They claim the high moral ground but don't hit the ground . They claim they are about action but their policy is inaction ( close it down and lock it up) .( apart from more taxes )
The greens now try to claim the high ground  on qanda tonight on logging -One of the realities that will define this period of history will be the way the Greens closed down the logging industry without really knowing what its doing - hence the passe response to their overblown destruction of industries they don't understand.
Milne will need to find some ground to stand on because noone in the audience asked her a seriuos question. Hearing her talk about logs versus conservation  is too much-- as if it comes down to one or the other   Cundle may support the inherent corruption fears of the left like some predictable old record but its just overblown fear(his adjectives were completely unjustified)  .The greens aren't serious about anything , live off irrational fears and using the latest words  ,and people are seeing it .

Hockey does some hacking on qanda

20000 more pS in Canberra since Labor started
If its profitable tax it and if its making lots tax it most ,,,,,,,,,if its not making anything subsidize it

What will the MPCCC committee come up with ?

Who knows - but whatever it does come up with ; It will be out of this world and bring the house down ( you heard it first on blogger on June 21st 2011) .
I won't here dignify the shatteringly unstable nature of MPCCC 's recommendations when they come out in week or so --with a reason ( Ed Burke would know ) - GreenLabor love to move where angels fear to tread . Easiest way to go there is to not know what you are doing.

Easy answers are for simple people

Our PM Julia Gillard bans live exports of cattle to Indonesia because of a TV program (ABCTV)  showing cruelty by some purchasers of those cattle .   Asylum seekers  will be sent to ..............who knows where ?
The only modus operandi for Greenlabor seems to be to ban things. They have become the  new prohibition group .
Too bad if such simple effective action  stops major economic activity or is so big a hammer it drives innocent people broke . Labor now does what its lobbyists in the green movement want it to leaving reality politics to someone else . Ag supply is a fragile economic supply line,  but greens don't care . Care used to mean consideration for diversity - big hammers don't care so  Labor's credibility is on the line.

Labor leaders clearly get too many of their ideas from the Greens,  but why do they slavishly follow the greens down the dead brick road . Sure its simple and its appeal is obvious.

Talking crap to win votes

No wonder Lindsay Tanner dropped out - he's got some integrity. Some polys will do anything to stay in power ( maybe even get married ? ). Burke  will talk himself silly about population pressures like Wong did - by placing the good name of science and sustainability next to their own simple watery prejudices and fears ( aligning themselves with the fear driven) . No better than the red necks who would chase people out of the country because of their colour;  at least some people are open about their focus .
Bob Carr and Kelvin Thompson too,  show where all this hot air on environment comes from ( the cities ) -and how brilliant  it is ; these 2 would know about carrying capacity ( their fear is a danger to their objectivity )  - the city has always been the parasite,  so whose in denial here ? They live in the heat and messed with it for too long to know why Julia is in big trouble now with the nonscience and projection over environment. The Carrs and the Thompsons   have refused to support the proper role of planning  ( not population thats the problem its their lack of planning!)  The NSW environmenet court and Vic Labor water worriers--just big black holes for the unwary - supported by bureaus big enough to rebuild the genuine planned economy of every regional centre in Australia - should they ever get serious about what they are saying .  Bob Brown can't see his way out of it either,  cause he's in the midst of it .      Fearmongers incorporated

A Carbon Price - finally a really simple idea for the........

.
The idea is so simple that its appeal to politicians is quite understandable

Gillard has got everyone to agree to an idea - just got to work out whether it works or not .
Nothing wrong with thinking about a tax to influence the use and abuse of diminishing resources .

But there is something seriously wrong with a group of politicians thinking they can do the impossible and change the world with a great big tax
-especially a group of complete marginals ; a track record with water that just doesn't wash  .A love of simplicity instead of a commitment to complexity.
Take a good look at this bunch ; behind Bob Brown is Tony Windsor and beside him is Christine Milne . Independents are over represented ; Rob Oakshott standing behind government leaders who couldn't  be trusted with managing insulation to homes,  let alone our economy.. Rob and Tony are happy to back more committees and more legislation clearly jeopardizing their right to speak for the people. Apparently the latest idea is so simple and "locked in" that even politicians can't fiddle with it .   More like "so simple they all fell for it"
The mood was one of unity - they agreed with us that" it would good to do something about it" which it would " robin hood "  .
But their confidence needs a reality check - who are they and what do they know.  Do the people trust them and should they trust themselves? We don't .I as a competent risk management earth scientist would not even go near them and their short pants advisory crew

You would think the Independents in particular would have researched why the leading exponents of more resources  taxes were tossed out of Victoria -----because their taxes ( and their taxes solve everything attitud e) distort the market in favor of rich people and make the average citizen pay in a very big way for benefits that are highly contentious .
